Increase subsidies for fruits/vegetables by reducing corn/soy subsidies.

Created by C.M. on January 29, 2014

Obesity and heart disease are issues that are killing some people, while others are stuck paying massive amounts of healthcare. Eating healthy foods can help solve this problem! Unfortunately, corn/soy (main ingredients in processed unhealthy foods) are subsidized making them cheaper than fresh fruits/veggies. People on a tight budget choose these cheap corn/soy products to make their money stretch further causing them to be less healthy. Switching subsidies to support fruits/veggies would make healthy foods more affordable without breaking the bank by spending differently instead of spending more. Affordable healthy foods will help create healthier people which will in turn lower the amount spent on healthcare.

Share the subsidies with fruits and veggies!
