Increase the tax deduction for charitable contributions

Created by P.T. on December 20, 2012

Limiting tax deductions for charitable contributions will result in a decrease in donations to organizations that are often the lifeline for our nation's most vulnerable populations. As local, state, and federal governments have continued to cut funding for much-needed services to the disenfranchised, nonprofits have struggled to keep up with the increased demand for services. Ideally, 80% of a nonprofit's funding would originate from individuals. Reducing the tax deduction reduces the incentive for those inclined to give. In actuality, increasing the deduction will decrease long-term governmental expenditures for these populations. Please join us in supporting the continuation of the charitable deduction rate at a minimum of 35%.
