Instead of slashing the charitable tax deduction, which nonprofit organizations rely on to raise private support, we urge the President to INCREASE incentives for private giving, enabling these organizations to operate more efficiently and effectively and decrease their reliance on federal funding.
Nonprofits support those less fortunate, enrich our neighborhoods, and meet needs in local communities and around the world by providing services in an efficient and effective way. They are the life-blood of American society. This is NOT the time to cut off their blood-supply. We are a nation of Democrats and Republicans, Liberals and Conservatives, but as Americans we agree on this: We need our nation’s nonprofits, and we need to encourage private support for them to be effective.
