Elected members of the House are chosen to serve their country, and their constituents. The current term system only allots two years for a Representative to achieve legislative goals. The two year term limit is half of the time the President of the United States is given to serve, and only 1/3 of the amount of time given to US Senators.
Upon being elected to office, House Representatives are immediately diverted from their duty to serve the public, and must consider strategies for reelection. This mentality influences political feasibility of budget appropriations, and incentivizes gridlock.
It is the intention of this petition to allow House Representatives to have more meaningful participation in our democratic system of government.
