Increase voter turnout by declaring all national elections to be Federal Holidays.

Created by C.M. on January 18, 2013

We petition the Obama Administration to propose a bill which establishes the date of all national elections to be Federal Holidays. This would preserve the representative nature of our government by ensuring that more Americans are able to make their voices heard on election day.

Oftentimes we must weigh our desire to vote against our obligations at work. We believe that the American people should not be forced to choose between casting their ballots or keeping their jobs.

Many Americans have little flexibility in working hours, and many more cannot afford to take a day off to exercise their right to vote. By declaring election days to be Federal Holidays, Congress can ensure that more working Americans have the opportunity to make their voices heard.
