increase voter turnout by making election day a paid national holiday.

Created by M.M. on November 04, 2015

Voter turnout in the USA is feeble. With 30% turnout on average, the minority plays a large role in determining national policy.
Factors contributing to this include those unable or unwilling to take time from work to vote, those who are apathetic and have something better to do, or those who simply forget it is election day.
With Election day a paid national holiday - a la Memorial day, Labor Day, and Independence Day - there would be more build up and less apathy towards it.
We all deserve to celebrate our national right to determine our own future - we just need to ensure access and available time for everyone to do so.
