Healthcare workers are exposed to viral and bacterial illnesses and thus many healthcare providers are inherently at a greater risk of having an illness because of the nature of their work; yet, they do not get compensated for their sick time used even though it is highly probable that their illness was work related. I suggest that law mandates a hazard pay to all healthcare workers that provide patient care and/or provide an increase in the amount of sick time organizations provide to healthcare employees.
