Increasing understanding of conservation, public issues, community participation in youth through voluntarism

Provide an opportunity to youth of diverse religious, racial, social, and national backgrounds to learn the principles and techniques of citizenship in a liberal democracy through lived experience during summer experiences. The methodology is to allow participants to establish their own camp government and be guided toward social political activism, a sense of civic responsibility, and voluntarism in an environment that is supported by tolerance and diversity. This type of experience young people to take responsibility and work toward establishing personal goals and leadership and psychosocial well being. See Black, A.D.
