We petition that the NIH budget be increased to provide critical funding for innovation in science and enable pivotal discoveries to address urgent medical needs. Without sufficient funding scientsts will not be able to create cures for devastating diseases such as cancer and heart disease and develop new tissue engineered replacements necessary for enhancing the health and quality of life of millions of Americans. Ultimately, the inability to address the important medical needs of our present day will ultimately affect the life and well being of each individual in the future. The fate of our health care advances rely on the funding infrastructure made available to researchers.
