When police kill, should officers judge themselves?
In most states when police kill they are often investigate themselves. Relationships run deep with most police departments and district attorneys. Police often elude accountability and transparency due to a broken system. I am proposing a federal law that require an external investigation on police officers who have killed or have had citizens die while in police custody. This legislation will remove bias and will uphold the "due process" that is guaranteed under the law. The results of each of these cases should be recorded by the Justice Department for data collection to recognize trends with regards to death at police hands. This will be the 1st step of many to hold police accountable in an unbiased process.
