During a hearing of the Senate Intelligence Committee on March 12, 2013 Senator Wyden asked Director of National Intelligence James Clapper:
"So what I wanted to see is if you could give me a yes or no answer to the question, does the NSA collect any type of data at all on millions or hundreds of millions of Americans?”
DNI James Clapper responded: “No, sir.”
which was false.
Indict him for violation of 18 USC § 1001:
(a) Except as otherwise provided in this section, whoever, in any matter within the jurisdiction of the executive, legislative, or judicial branch of the Government of the United States, knowingly and willfully—
...(2) makes any materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent statement or representation;...
shall be fined under this title, imprisoned not more than 5 years..
