On July 17, 2014, Erica Garner a father, a husband, a son was murdered by officer Daniel Pantaleo, as he yelled for his life. You can hear the pain in Mr. Garners voice as he pleaded with police to just leave him alone. Prior to the officers walking up to him he had just broken up a fight. A grand jury decided that Mr. Garners death was not homicide because he had health issues prior to the officer choking him to death on the sidewalk. This man did not have to lose his life like many young black men and men of color in America.
