We need to launch a national campaign to create more productive communities for African American families. So many places like Chicago and Detroit, our young black men are idolizing violence, homicide, gang life, etc. All these arrests are not doing enough. Our young black men get out and do the same thing. They need a better outlook on life. They need counseling. They need understanding. They need hope. They need goals. They need something more productive but still interesting that will occupy their time. We need a program that will link them to decent jobs and other helpful resources that keeps them away from a destructive lifestyle. Gangs are recruiting younger and younger, so we must go after the younger kids as well who are already being influenced. Jail, as we see, is not the answer
