Serving as a United States representative was never intended to be, and should not be a career. The politicians of today are completely out of touch with their constituents since they no longer live similar lives, or even spend any significant time in their districts. Congresspersons should serve their districts for a short period, and then return to their careers. Eliminate pensions, and replace with a 401K with a standard Federal fund matching plan up to 5%. Our great nation is no longer governed by the people, but instead by career politicians who are unaware of the issues, concerns, and problems that their constituents are facing. The only reason that term limits do not exist is that those who would be effected by them are the ones who must create them. This is what the people want!
