Influence the government of North Korea to reform its prison system and policies of political imprisonment.

Created by J.M. on September 29, 2013

Whereas the North Korean prison system, inasmuch as it applies to its many thousands of purely political prisoners, is widely understood to represent at once both a pinnacle of human suffering and a nadir of human rights, and

Whereas the North Korean government has shown itself to be well calcified against change from within and

Whereas the Republic of the United States of America still enjoys potency across many spectra of global influence

Therefore I petition the Administration, the Department of State and any and all mechanisms they command - including but not limited to soft power, indirect diplomacy and the Executive bully pulpit - to invite, cajole and pressure the government of North Korea to forge an honorable future for its people, free of the stain of the current gulag system.
