initiate action to repeal the 27th Amendment wherein Congress granted themselves immunity from pay cuts.

Created by J.S. on February 23, 2013

The 27th Amendment grants congressional lawmakers protection from cuts to their salaries until the subsequent election. This amendment should be immediately repealed in its entirety. At no other time has congress been so ineffective and uncooperative. Elected into office to serve the American people, we instead have a body of self-preserving, greedy, irresponsible and corporate sponsored lackeys. Congress members cannot be effective until they experience the same struggles and benefits the rest of America does. At least a 5 day work week, min. 20 yr. public service requirement for pensions, performance pay, the same health care among the many benefits we, the American public, enjoy. Let's give them an opportunity to show us how effective they can be when their salaries are affected.
