In order to better serve the interests of the people of the United States it is time for a change in how long Representatives, Senators, and Presidents may serve. The constitution should be amended to institute term limits in the following manner: Members of the House of Representatives limited to five two-year terms, the Senate two six-year terms, and the President one six-year term. The amendment should further state that members of Congress and their staff are barred from becoming lobbyists for a period of six years after they have left Congress. Additionally, the amendment shall remove the ability of members of Congress to participate in the Federal Employees Retirement System. Taking these measures will help our political leadership refocus on governing.
