In order to change the culture of gun ownership with respect to second amendment rights, it is proposed that the White House begin a comprehensive, national, educational campaign.
With dual goals of 1) combating the popular image of guns as toy-like, cool and fun, and reinforcing the serious and responsible nature of proper gun ownership, and 2) providing tools for assistance with feelings of frustration, anger, and hopelessness as well as coping with mental illness, such a campaign could in the tradition of D.A.R.E. and sex education influence school-aged children and young adults to seek alternatives to gun violence for conflict resolution and psychological assistance.
