Sequestration has caused the government to implement furloughs for civilian employees. Congress and Congressional staff members should also be furloughed.
I'm sure there is some law that protects congress from this sort of thing, they would have made sure of that long ago. However, they need to show that they are not above the disaster that they helped to create.
For example, during the automotive government bailout, the CEO or Ford cut his own paycheck to $1 until the situation was resolved. What a message that sent. A message that said "I take responsibility and I am not above the hardship".
Show the american people that our leaders are willing to suffer the same consequences they impose on others. It's not abou the money, it's about the statement it makes.
