Legislate a limit on the maximum amount of money that can be spent on any federal campaign to $2 million dollars. Also, make the penalties for breaking this law very severe, not only monitarily, but also criminally, including the incarceration of anyone convicted of violating this law. The monitary fines collected from this law would be used to pay the salaries of the people who will police it.
People should be elected by their stance on the issues, not on the number of TV smear ads. Limiting the money will force candidates to use their campaign money more wisely by sticking to the issues and also keep them from being indebted to corporations and wealthy individuals. It's time to give the vote back to the people of this country.
