Initiate the procedure to raise the $3000 loss limit on stock investments

Created by B.B. on January 01, 2013

The $3000 loss limit per year on stock investments needs to be increased. This amount has remained the same for the past 20 years. In the past 10 years, there have been millions of people who have incurred large losses in the the markets and these people may never be able to claim all of their losses because of this small yearly limit. When people make gains in stocks, the government wants taxes paid on the total amount but when people lose money all they may claim is $3000 per year. It has remained at that limit for too long! One of our Congressman should submit a bill, (and get credit for it) to raise the current stock loss limit of $3000 per year.
