We petition President Obama to push for federal limits on gun ownership, to include:
- no access to handguns
- limiting access to rifles and shotguns to single-shot bolt-action guns only
- A 6-12 month waiting period to purchase a gun, during which a thorough psychological evaluation be performed, similar to a Secret-level security clearance.
This push should include the introduction of legislation to this effect in Congress, and a concerted effort to beat back the National Rifle Association and other special-interest groups that claim to have the public's rights in mind, while actively pursuing policies that make us all less safe and less free.
