We, the undersigned, hereby petition for the reduction of searches performed on airline travelers by the Transportation Security Administration. Specifically, we are calling for the elimination of intrusive body scans, which, notwithstanding the upcoming implementation of L-3 Communications' millimeter wave scanners as opposed to Rapiscan's more revealing backscatter scanners, represent an unacceptable violation of citizens' privacy. Additionally, we request the elimination of warrantless searches of passengers' carry-on items via X-ray and intrusive pat-downs. The current search procedures are unacceptable on the basis of unconstitutionality, exhorbitant expense, and ineffectiveness.
