When the 2nd amendment was first framed it was possible to use household weapons, organize a militia and defends one's homes from invaders. Today, while weapons are still used to defend homes, they are also used in horrific crimes; crimes unfathomable to the founders of our constitution.
Times have changed and the death toll continues to rise, Weapons are now designed with state of the art ballistics to cause bullets to tumble rather than spin creating devastating wounds as they roll through a body, to expand upon hitting a target, to fragment and explode. These are not things that the framers of the constitution envisioned.
Only by taking gun ownership away as a right and making it a privilege can we put around them the necessary controls to help eliminate these mass murders.
