I work at an home improvement store. Also, I love to help people who call or come in to said store. My main goal is to stop manufacturers from using the characters: i, I, l, L, o, O, 0, 1. When naming/assigning OEM numbers.
Imagine you have an older piece of power equipment that has a part that's failed, you know what you need but you've actually used the machine and it's worn, you can't quite make out the all the numbers on the model plate. Is it an l or a I or a 1? Maybe it's a 0 or O?
Reason being, it's very hard and time consuming to go through a process of elimination.
Ban manufacturers from using possible conflicting characters.
Thank you.
