Insist all future nuclear power plants have passive safety and waste efficiency rivaling Molten Salt fuelled reactors.

Created by N.M. on July 15, 2014

All nuclear power plants in the US are Light Water reactors. This is due to early development of nuclear for submarine use by the Navy. This technology is unsafe for commercial use on land. As illustrated by the fukushima meltdown, all Light Water reactors share these problems:
1) They require constant external power to pump water to cool the reaction.
2) The required high pressure containment can fail.
3) They create excessive nuclear waste since they are only 5% efficient.

We need to use existing alternatives like Molten Salt fuelled reactors which avoid these problems. They are superior because:
1) With a loss of external power the nuclear reaction will self cool to a halt.
2) They do not require any pressurization.
3) They create very little nuclear waste since they are 96% efficient.
