The logo and name of the Washington Redskins, has been a source of controversy between its owners, Native American groups, fans, and the United States government. Some Native American groups insist that the term “Redskin” is a racial epithet, and as such, it perpetuates demeaning stereotypes of Native Americans.
The name of this NFL ranks among others such as the Cleveland Indians, utilizing outdated racial slurs and misconceptions as the face of their teams franchise.
For a team supposedly representing our nation's capitol, a nation supposedly founded on equality, we submit to you that the team must update their name to something less racially oriented.
