As the cornerstone of the political institution of the democratic republic, voting is one of the most important things an American citizen can ever do.
It is fitting and proper that one should have a basic understanding of the American political system, a grasp on the actuality of current events without partisan bias, and basic intellectual reasoning to make sound decisions before participating in the institution that our nation relies on for leadership.
One has to take a test in order to be licensed to drive a car, get into college, or get a job. It's time that voting is treated with the dignity it deserves and voters are ensured to be worthy of this great tool to change our nation for the better.
