On average there are upwards of 40 to 50 million students attending college each year. The overwhelming stimulation of the economy has driven the costs of higher education to soaring amounts of debt. The total average costs of obtaining a 4 year college degree is nearly $350,000. Most student can barely afford to feed themselves let alone pay for the exorbitant and overpriced textbooks required each semester. It is time that we call to the people and our government to impose restrictions on the prices that these textbook publishers may assign to these tomes of higher education. We need regulation and moderation on the costs of required textbooks so that the average student can not only afford to attend college but also so that we can contribute to our economic growth in the future.
