Notable among our Constitutional rights is the second amendment, which grants us the right to bear arms. Also notable is the reason this was put in place. We do not have the right to arms for the sake of self defense, though that is a fortunate byproduct. We have the right to arms to protect against a tyrannical regime should the government become more powerful than the people would like.
Unfortunately, the new reason to bear arms is, more prominently, personal security, more now than ever. Thus, I would petition for the instatement of a procedure for conceal and carry in the state of Illinois, currently the ONLY state lacking such a procedure out of all fifty United States of America.
