For decades taxpayers have funded pure and practical scientific research at private universities that have produced technologies bettering our health care and applying sciencntific marvels that improve the quality of life. These innovations having been patented by the principal investigators and/or the institutions hosting such research funded by taxpayer dollars thru the National Institute of Health and National Science Foundation.
The funding for this research has made millionaires out of ordinary college professors and fill the coffers of private instutions that maintain the entitlements of institutional privacy. Discoveries funded by taxpayer dollars have ironically gone on to expand and enhance expensive health care technologies that are denied to the simplest of citizens.
