We should require people to have a psychiatric evaluation before buying such weapons. This seems to be a logical compromise compared to a full out ban, that wouldn't work in the first place. This is logical in the sense that you must have one in order to join the military, or any other profession where you could obtain the use of such weapons. This would help with all cases of mass shootings, in which the individuals responsible had serious mental illness, and still obtained firearms.
