Instead of banning the sale of military style weapons, demand people receive a psychiatric evaluation before purchase.

Created by C.B. on December 24, 2012

Instead of a ban on large round magazines and semi-automatic rifles, which are largely used by hobbyists and gun enthusiasts, we should require people to have a psychiatric evaluation before buying such weapons. This seems to be a logical compromise compared to a full out ban. This is logical in the sense that you must have a psychiatric evaluation in order to join the military, or any other profession where you could obtain the use of such weapons. This would be the best solution for helping to prevent mass shootings, like ones we've suffered before, in which the individuals responsible had serious mental illness, yet still obtained firearms.
