There are so very many laws out there that make gun ownership a long process, and for the majority of the people who go through this process they are not using the guns for harming other people. Illegal firearms are the major issue not being addressed, mainly because of the light punishment that is given to people owning them. Instead of taking away honest citizens right to bear arms, punish those who have them illegally by charging them with the crime they intend to use them for, conspiracy to commit murder. Harsher punishments for illegal firearms should cause a drastic reduction in the possession and use of such things.
