Institute federally mandated daily siestas for all public and private employees between the hours of 2 and 4 PM.

Created by R.G. on December 11, 2013

The people of the United States deserve a siesta because the positive physical and mental health benefits of a midday break enrich citizens at every level of society.

Although further research is needed, current studies suggest siestas correspond to a sharp decline in cardiovascular disease and other stress related illness.

Plus, taking a siesta lessens the environmental impact of energy intensive daytime necessities such as electricity consumption and vehicular travel.

In addition, a short break during the day could lead to an increase in both the quality and productivity of a citizen's afternoon/evening.

Therefore, the United States federal government should mandate daily siesta time between 2 and 4 PM.
