Whereas regulations passed in 2009 and implemented in 2010 require banks to get the customer's consent before charging exhorbitant overdraft fees, and whereas the banks continue to process transactions in such a way that balances cannot be viewed in a timely manner either on their websites or at their locations, and overdraft fees for those of low income are still almost completely unavoidable in this economic climate, we propose that a hard dollar amount limit of $10 be placed on all bank overdraft fees, and the amount for transactions of $5 or less should not exceed the amount of the transaction more than 50%. Also, we believe that banks should be required by law to process transactions in the chronological order in which the transactions are placed.
