The Iraq and Afghanistan wars have been said to cost as much as $4 TRILLION. Imagine if we spent just 10% of that on a massive investment program to promote SOLAR ENERGY use in the United States. This program could include:
1. Tax credits and incentives for builders to put photovoltaic and/or photothermal systems onto the roofs of all new construction in the U.S.A.
2. Similar credits and incentives for retrofits and upgrades on existing construction, including replacement roofs done on older homes.
3. Investment tax credits for manufacturers and suppliers of new, more efficient photovoltaic and photothermal systems and technologies.
Such a massive, strategic-level investment would yield TRUE energy independence and allow us to disengage, over time, from the Middle East entirely.
