The federal government currently regulates activities in a large number of activities that have a direct impact both on the health and safety of current citizens and their future economic, environmental or financial success. However, in the process of making these rules many regulators turn to the scientific community and find numerous industry-backed studies or "independent" studies whose authors are affiliated financially with the industry in question clouding the picture and distorting the true scientific conclusion, a prime example being the FDA's GRAS rating of High Fructose Corn Syrup and, by association, Fructose in general.
Please ban this practice on all new regulations and review all old regulations, retracting and revising all rules previously issued tainted in this manner.
