Recognizing that global warming presents danger to the entire biosphere, this petition encourages the president to act quickly to curb greenhouse gases through an effective and far-reaching carbon tax. The atmosphere is a commons - owned by all. None of us can litter and pollute the land and rivers individually without legal consequence. Yet, industry is free to pump waste into the sky with impunity. This is unsustainable, unfair to others who pays taxes for their waste, and necessary for the health and happiness of our future.
