The United States of America were founded on a principle of Government by the People for the People. The deeds of the Legislative Branch have a huge influence on everyone's lives. Sometimes, when a member of the Legislative Branch acts in the interest of a small group of people at the expense of a large group of people, many people experience a decrease in their life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. In order to try to preserve these rights in a fair and mutually agreeable way, it would be good to dedicate effort to ask pertinent questions of members of the Legislative Branch and verify claims on whose truthfulness people's rights depend. An office dedicated to this task might be a worthwhile investment.
