Currently our elected persons in the United States Congress and Senate are not subject to term limits. They are able to run for re-election every six years for Senators and every two years for House Representatives.
Due to the continuation of these elected officials we see the lack of performance from our overall government officials and a growing division between party lines. This is preventing our officials from being able to get work done and voting in the best interest of their constituents rather than the funding of their next campaign through lobbyist groups.
Through a poll performed by the Gallop Organization released in January of 2013, the American people would vote for congressional term limits by a 75 – 21 margin.
It is time for real change, it is time for term limits.
