Institute a two year national service requirement for all high school graduates to subsidize college tuition.

Created by E.S. on February 26, 2012

High school seniors are taking on huge debt to try to afford four year colleges, with fewer and fewer guarantees that they will find a stable career upon graduation. Our late teenagers need more options. We believe that two years of National Service is the most sensible. It would provide young adults an opportunity to explore their country, learn about our cultural "melting pot", see first hand the biggest challenges faced by Americans today, and work within specifically designed service units of the National Domestic Service Corps to help address those challenges. After service, they could attend any public university for free. By their mid twenties they would not only have a college degree, but a wealth of first hand experience in being a good American. It is time for common goals.
