Voter Registration Day is a new, national holiday celebrated every year on August 1st that serves to remind every American of their most important civic duty.
Voters will take an opportunity during the holiday to register anew or check their existing registration status to ensure they are aligned with the party of their choice.
The goal of Voter Registration Day (#vrd, if you will) is to combat the problem of voters inadvertently having their affiliation changed to a political party they do not align with, as well as to increase awareness of voter registration status BEFORE major election cycles occur, so no voter finds themselves excluded on Election Day.
