The ATF (the bureau of alcohol, tobacco, and firearms) collects information on gun crime throughout the nation. However, thanks to the Tiahrt amendments, the ATF is barred from releasing this information, even to law enforcement agencies unless they are inquiring about a specific case. This is unacceptable, the Obama administration must oppose the Tiahrt amendments, and act to release the information that the ATF collects to the public in an online database. This database must make public the information the ATF already collects on gun crime victims, the guns used, and be free to the public.
