The manufacturing of the penny costs more then its monetary value and its continued usage only costs the American people. We can save money and simultaneously raise millions of dollars a year simply by halting the production, collecting them from financial institutions and melting them down for profit. Many other countries have taken this step easily and nostalgic Americans can still keep, collect and use any remaining pennies in the system much like the two dollar bill.
