Instruct the Department of Labor to remove the exempt employment category from our labor laws

Created by D.D. on March 04, 2013

Currently, our labor laws allow corporations to not pay the minimum wage or overtime rates for employees that are classified as exempt status. The 13th Amendment abolished involuntary servitude in the US; however, today we are faced with corporate servitude. Millions of Americans are forced to work more than 40 hours a week and businesses are given a free pass to not pay them an overtime rate, let alone the minimum wage for those excess hours. We call on the President to demand the Labor Secretary to abolish the 'exempt' employment status and declare an end to corporate involuntary servitude to ensure every hour of work is compensated in light of the Constitution.
