Starting with the Holder memo (http://federalevidence.com/pdf/Corp_Prosec/Holder_Memo_6_16_99.pdf) the Department of Justice has shied away from holding corporations and individuals within those corporations criminally liable for wrongdoing. The preference for negotiated settlements that only include fines has failed. The current guidelines result in little to no chance for criminal prosecution of corporate officers with the possibility of prison terms. There is little incentive for corporations to act according to law. We want the DOJ to be more aggressive in pursuing these cases.
Only in this way can the ideal of "equality in the eyes of the law" be restored.
