instruct the D.O.J. to investigate any legal culpability of the office of Gov. Rick Snyder in the Flint Water Disaster

Created by J.S. on January 19, 2016

On Jan. 5th, a state of emergency was declared in Flint, Michigan; its water supply was contaminated with lead, and had been so for months. This happened when untreated water from Flint River replaced less cost-effective Detroit water. Some houses saw the lead reach 880 times the federally acceptable limit, an estimated 6000-12000 kids were made susceptible to lead poisoning, and a deadly outbreak of Legionnaire's Disease hit Flint.

During this time, the state had control over a defaulting Flint, and FoIA requests show politicians and state regulators close to Snyder were aware of the issue and actively ignored it. So far $5,000,000 in aid has been sent to Flint - when $100 anti-corrosives would have prevented this calamity. In September a petition for Flint here failed - not again!
