The current numbers suggest that, in the popular vote held on November 8th, 2016, Hillary Clinton won with 59,739,870, defeating Donald Trump, who garnered only 59,520,472 votes.
However, current numbers suggest that the Electoral Collage with award Donald Trump 279 votes, and Hillary Clinton only 228. This will give Donald Trump the presidency, in opposition to the will of the majority of voters.
This is a subversion of how our democracy should function and should not be allowed to happen.
While it would best to work towards a long term goal of amending the federal constitution to eliminate the Electoral Collage, in the short term, Mrs. Clinton won the popular vote and so she should win the presidency and changes should also be made to ensure that this situation does not occur again.
