With the retirement of the shuttle fleet, NASA should consider the STEM educational value of allowing as many Americans as possible to view an orbiter. The purpose of this petition is to ask the administration to instruct NASA and FAA to develop a plan to showcase the orbiter Endeavour in as many cities as possible while transporting the spacecraft to it's new home at the California Science Center.
The plan should encompass coordinated efforts with local education agencies to teach the history and science of the shuttle program before the aircraft transporting the orbiter makes a brief flyby.
NASA should make special efforts to visit cities/organizations that managed aspects of the Shuttle program or lost bids to house the orbiters.
